Ride Along Program

The Ride-A-Long program provides citizens an opportunity to expierence the law enforcement function first hand.
Reasonable attempts will be made to accomodate interested persons; however any applicant may be disqualified without cause. Some of these factors may be considered in disqualifying an applicant and are not limited to:
  • Prior criminal history
  • Pending criminal action
  • Pending lawsuit against the department
  • Denial by any supervisor
All requests will be approved by the Police Chief after a completed Ride-A-Long form has been submitted. Once the ride-along has either been approved or denied, a representative from the Police Department will contact you by telephone and advise him/her.

No more than one ride-along will be allowed in the officer's vehicle at a given time.

Any person who is having a ride-along may be refused if you are not properly dressed. The approved person is required to be suitably dressed in collared shirt ot jacket, slacks and shoes. Tank tops, shorts, ripped or torn blue jeans, T-shirts or sandals, are not permitted. Hat and ball caps will not be worn in the police vehicle.
