Increased risk of West Nile Virus to humans
9 mosquito pools tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) this week and this resulted in an increased Vector Index in Zone 2 (Milliken is located in Zone 2, see MAP).
This increased Vector Index indicates high risk for transmission of WNV to humans.
According to the CDC, a vector index calculation that exceeds 0.75 indicates an increased risk of WNV transmission to humans.
If your municipality is in or near Zone 2, it may be a good time to consider mosquito control measures. This is the last week of mosquito testing in Weld County for 2017.
