Project ChildSafe

Project ChildSafe, the nation's largest firearm safety education program, has encouraged millions of gun owners to practice safe and responsible firearm ownership and storage since it began distributing gun lock safety kits.

Project ChildSafe has partnered with governors, lieutenant governors, U.S. Attorneys, mayors and local law enforcement agencies across the country to distribute this massive number of safety kits. The program will continue to work with these officials and organizations as it continues distribution during the remainder of 2004 and into next year.

The Milliken Police Department is a participant in Project ChildSafe. the nation's largest firearm safety education program that has encouraged millions of gun owners to practice safe and responsible firearm ownership and storage.  Project ChildSafe has partnered with governors, lieutenant governors, U.S. Attorneys, mayors and local law enforcement agencies across the country to distribute gun lock safety kits.  The locks, available at no cost, come in two sizes: one for .22 caliber weapons and another for larger calibers.  We think gun locks can help prevent firearm accidents within our homes.  Please stop by the Police Department to obtain a free gun lock or two for your home.

National Night Out

This is an annual event that is free and is hosted by the Police Department. They invite neighborhoods throughout the Town to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the National Night Out crime and drug prevention event. There are also events for kids including a jump house. From7:00 pm to 10:00 pm residents in neighborhoods throughout Milliken are asked to turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police officers. Our combined efforts can strengthen community spirit and make out Town a safer place to live.
