
The primary purpose of Community Development is to work with applicants (developers and landowners), Town Board, staff, residents, and appointed committees by guiding the Town’s growth and maintaining its character and vitality. The Community Development Staff encourages development in accordance with guidelines established by the Town Board. In addition, the department is dedicated to consistently working with the Town’s vision of strengthening its character and economy, while responding to environmental constraints and opportunities. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working with citizens and landowners to implement Milliken’s Comprehensive Plan and the Johnstown/Milliken Parks, Trails, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan.
- Ensure that development occurs in a manner that promotes land stewardship and protects and improves Milliken’s quality of life.
- Make certain that the entitlement process is a predictable, fair, transparent process that considers public input and follows a defined schedule while promoting quality design and construction.
